My teaching experience includes high school technology, journalism, art and PE in a small, rural school in California. Currently I am teaching community college courses in technology, education and study skills. Pattern Practice: Trucks & Airplanes
I created these worksheets to help my sons learn patterns. I selected clip art they love to inspire and motivate them to complete the assignments.
The sequences used include A/B, A/B/B and A/B/C. Students are asked to circle, cut & paste and create their own patterns with stamps or stickers.

Teaching style
My style is very student-centered with a heavy emphasis on the importance of creating professional teaching relationships with your students. I believe the relationships you have with your students is the essence of your ability to be an effective teacher. I work to streamline the technical foundation skills so my time in the classroom can be spent in a more meaningful way to inspire students and focus on the growth of higher order thinking skills. Students have told me I am a constructivist teacher, which I take as a compliment.

Various local awards for teaching in my career including ROP teacher of the year and outstanding faculty.
My own education history
A competitive gymnasts, I was lucky enough to dazzle the coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo years ago and was accepted. I graduated with a degree in journalism. When I left the magazine industry, I completed a fully-online master's degree in education at National University while teaching on an emergency credential. Subsequently I completed my administrative credential and am currently taking graduate courses at the University of Idaho (go Vandals! ).
Additional biographical information
My husband and I have been blessed with a very full life. In addition to our jobs, we have two sets of twin boys and quite a collection of farm animals. When I am not at the computer or in the classroom, you'll find me in the barn with my horses.
