After the Storm
Several years ago, a hurricane passed through my state. While We received quite a lot of damage, other places in the country were much more severely impacted.
As my students returned to school, I realized that they had been exposed to quite a bit of media, including images and stories of destruction and death in the wake of the storm. Many of them were frightened and upset.
So I decided to help process through some of those feelings with some discussion drawing and writing activities. Some o

Experience
I have been teaching for 28 years in Title I schools. I have taught general education/SPED collaboration classes, Kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and PreK Head Start.
Teaching style
Community building drives the tone of the classroom. I try to provide a space centered with respect, care, and consistency. I don't always get it right, but my students and I muddle through together to create a place where we can come together happily each day.
