The third grade math standard MAFS.3.OA.3.7 states that students need to be able to FLUENTLY MULTIPLY AND DIVIDE within 100. In my classroom we use Magic Math to help meet the fluency standard. This is a worksheet that can be used when teaching distributive property. It has learners looking at the big expression and then splitting it into two different arrays, and finally writing it out property, and solving it. 3X2 XX XX XX 2 smaller arrays X X X X X X (3X1)+(3X1)=6

This is a supplement activity that I created for Eureka, Module 1, Lesson 18 for 3rd grade. It is the Break Apart Strategy practice for Distributive Property.

Directions: 1. Cut out the snowman template. 2. Fill each part of the snowman up with cotton balls. 3. Count how many cotton balls you used in each part of the snowman’s body. 4. Fill in the sentence beside the snowman. 5. Repeat until all snowballs are covered with ”snow.”

Students can practice "more then____ and less than ___." Teachers can have students draw in the marshmallows or use real ones for hands-on math. There is also a game that practices "Make a 10."

This is to help students understand time using word problems. It goes along with Eureka Math Module 2. This is geared towards 3rd grade but can be used in other grades for support.
