About the store
I first began teaching in 2013 in the general education classroom. I taught literacy, math, science, health, and social studies in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms.
In 2015 I became a certified RBT and delivered ABA services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ages 4 to 16 years. Shortly after I began graduate school and began perusing my Masters in Special Education.
Currently, I work as a Special Education Teacher in a public school. I service students with mild to moderate disabilities in the following areas: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Disabilities, Developmental Delay, and Specific Learning Disabilities

ABC Data Form
ABC Data is a direct observation tool that is used to record all factors that surround a problem behavior. ABC Data can help IEP team members identify the function of the behavior (or why it is occurring). Once identifying the function, a plan can be made to target the behavior. ABC refers to the following:
A – ANTECEDENT (the events or actions that occur immediately before the behavior)
B – BEHAVIOR (the behavior)
C – CONSEQUENCE (the action or response that immediately follows the behavior)

Frequency Data Form
Frequency data is used for documenting the amount that a behavior occurs in a given time period. When a student engages in the target behavior, occurrences are recorded using tally marks.

Duration Data Form
Duration data assists teachers in documenting the length a behavior occurs by recording the time of the behavior from beginning to end.
Duration Data is useful when your main concern is the length of time that the student engages in the behavior. Examples include the following: off task behaviors, tantrums, out of seat, pencil tapping, talking to peers, self stimulatory behaviors, etc.

Anecdotal Notes are essential when keeping track of students on your caseload. This form of data can be used to document both academic and behavioral progress on IEPs.

Teaching style
I aim to create a flexible classroom environment that is favorable to learning and personal growth. I foster a nurturing learning environment while teaching students with a variety of special needs in a general education setting.
I work hard to incorporate my love of ABA into my teaching! In my classroom you will see a wide variety of visuals, positive reinforcement, discrete trial teaching, and corrective feedback.

I am a Special Education Teacher based in the Washington D.C. metro area. I married my high school sweetheart, Scott and we have two lovely children Teddy and Diana. We also have a fur baby Baylee our beloved black lab! I enjoy reading, running on the Potomac River, and hiking.
