Then, as reading they would jot down character traits, actions, dialogue in the beginning of the story. They would continue to examine the character and document changes in the middle, and last in the end. Then, the students would write a paragraph citing the character changes and providing evidence from the text.

In reading we did a mini- text study on different non-fiction texts. Students were allowed to select from different topic baskets and then were to fill in the following: Title, Author, Topic, Main Idea and Supporting details. In our class our topics were focused around ways that we can help the environment. Then, using the research they developed in reading, they wrote persuasive essays.

These are some contraction rules notes that I've used in my classroom. They are two to a page, and we glue them into our Grammar notebook. This goes great as a reference for students when they're working on tasks that require them to form contractions!
