This digital blended learning (DBL) activity is based on the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse that will take place this year. The path of totality will stretch across the United States for a once in a life time experience. This lesson will explore what an eclipse is and have students inquire about the idea of eclipses on other planets. Students will complete a close read article to introduce the content. After reading, students will compare the information in the articles through comprehension ques

Basic Operations, Close Reading, Informational Text
Students will understand how the sun creates seasons. Students will use graph paper to show the sun's distance and angle during various seasons. Students will analyze how the sun's position impacts seasons.
This reflection sheet goes along with the picture book, "What's Faster Than a Speeding Cheetah" by Robert Wells. This book is a great tool to use to teach about speed and distance traveled over time. It can also be used as a great introduction to light! Students will use the data found in the text to create a graph. This activity is an integrated lesson; including reading, math, and science!
This student centered lab will require a toy car and measuring tape/meter stick. Students will discover how force impacts the relationship between distance and time. Students will test and record their findings in the table and answer reflection questions.
