These 5 subtraction worksheets support the pictorial (drawing level) introduced after students have built the concepts with place value blocks, and before they are solving problems with numbers alone (abstract level.) This is excellent for reinforcing WHY we regroup!! Use these after you're done teaching the "hands on" for each concept. Also, great for enrichment/challenge level work!

Print 1 grid. Have your class sign 6 random boxes (or 5, or 4 depending on size of class!) Then put the numbers 0-9 in a hat. Pick out the numbers one by one and write them above the grid columns. Repeat for the other side. This will give you where the scores fall. Then make a copy of the filled in grid for each child to take home as they watch the Superbowl! Use the ones place in the scores to see who wins what box. (Ex: Chiefs 21, to Eagles 28. You find where 1 and 8 meet, and that is the winn
I made this to go with a kit called "The Mall," which has a bunch of real little items in shops all labeled and priced. You could easily make your own mall by putting out a bunch of cards with item names and prices, and even jazz it up with clip art. (I bet someone else has a freebie of that!) Or make one large page of items with prices to display on your Smart Board.
