Because they add mnemonic detail to the 3D mind map, banners (images) enable lasting comprehension of the human body’s machinery. Use it for both the placement and game components of the Body System Battles. · The banners represent the functions of the anatomical structures. · By placing the banners on the game sheets (or the game board poster), students can make creative associations between anatomical names, locations, and functions. · The Systems Guide explains the banner associations.

This worksheet is a foundational tool for teaching human body systems, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and more. It is unique for two reasons. Firstly, it displays all body systems except the reproductive system. Secondly, the body systems are color-coded to aid comprehension and memorization. I made every attempt to stay anatomically accurate but allowed some minor modifications in order to include as many structures as possible. Note that the body systems are color-coded according to the syst

About the store

Experience

For the past 17 years, I have taught in a variety of educational environments to include homeschooling, private tutoring, and private school with the focus on high school biology, chemistry, and anatomy.

Teaching style

The responsibility of teaching is humbling as what and how I teach shapes worldviews. My focus, therefore, is to equip students to examine the truth and adequacy of statements before making it their own. Somewhere along the way, I also figured out what the Chinese knew all along, "Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me, and I'll understand." Though sometimes tricky, engaging students in challenging academic projects with creative and interactive methods always hits the mark.

My own education history

I received my veterinary degree at the University of Pretoria in South Africa about 30 years ago. After coming to the United States, I completed a Masters degree in Neuroscience as well as a year-long small animal internship year at Louisiana State University. Since then, I have been privileged to continue my education through peers, exceptional friends, and online classes.

Additional biographical information

Afrikaner by birth and Texan by choice, I have been on an extraordinary journey. Growing up in the beautiful country of South Africa was quite an adventure, but nothing could prepare me for the ride to come at the side of my husband, Marius. We met at veterinary school in Pretoria and set out to seek new adventure abroad soon after graduation. Landing in Cajun country, both my husband and I continued our studies at LSU. Years later, the growing Meintjes family settled outside of Dallas where I practiced veterinary medicine, home educated my three sons, taught sciences, and spearheaded several community projects. Naturally, we also had to keep some South African sheep around to teach the boys about life and responsibility. The intersection of science and biblical truths has long held my interest. Today, this fascination with the created world continues to inspire me to write, teach, and explore the field of life sciences. More about this at www.technonature.com.
