I had my students do a book recommendation/review on a book they had read recently. They used this template to help them organize their thoughts into the correct format. Then, they rewrote it into paragraph form. The example is something I wrote up to give the students an idea as to what I wanted it to look and sound like in the end. I have used these successfully with students. and parents love the communication. I often store these in a binder and have the student bring it back and forth between school and home.

Vocabulary practice for all 25 lessons from the Journeys 5th Grade Curriculum Resource. Each worksheet has the students write the definition, draw a picture, and use the word in a sentence. My students usually enjoyed this activity, as they were able to use their creativity with both the pictures and the sentences, all the while practicing the vocabulary words.

This is a simple form to communicate with parents regarding a student's late homework. Space to write what work was late, as well as a place to check if the work has now been completed, or if the student still needs to finish it at home. The bottom portion is for the parent to sign, indicating their awareness of the late work.
