About the store

I have been in education since 2003. I wanted to be psychologist, but I decided I could make a bigger difference in the classroom. I volunteered in my kids classrooms and found a lot of gratitude working with kids, so I changed my major to Elementary Education. I have taught 3rd grade 4 years, 5th grade 4 years and I am on my 2nd year in 4th grade! I love to see the light turn on when a student grasps a concept!

Problem Solving Document for teachers and a blank for students

This walks students through what the operations do in math, not using code words. My students use this when solving word problems. We go through this as we introduce the operations in word problems. We fill out an anchor chart and we spend a lot of time discussing what the operations mean. I have a blank copy for the students and have included a copy filled out for you to adjust as needed. I put the blank copy in students journal and as we fill out the anchor chart, they fill out each opera

Teaching style

I use a lot of cooperative learning techniques. I love to teach science and social studies using projects and group work. I incorporate technology wherever I can.

I have been nominated for teacher of the year on 2 separate occasions.

My own education history

I graduated in 2003 from Texas Christian University with a BS in Elementary Education. I am currently working on my Masters in Education Administration. I will complete my coursework in December.

Additional biographical information

I have been married for 25 years and have 2 great children. One is in college and the other is a sophomore in high school. I spend a lot of time working on school and researching new ways to teach math and science.
