About the store
I have been teaching kindergarten for 12 years in a rural public school. Our district will be entering the 5th year of using the Literacy Collaborative Framework. This has involved hours and hours of professional development and many coaching sessions to help me and fellow teachers create a literacy rich environment for our students. This is based on the work of Fountas and Pinnell.

Keep parents informed and students motivated as you have students color in how many Class Dojo points they earn each day. When they reach a star, they have earned a prize of your choosing. Students remain focused on their own progress as they become excited to track how close they are to reaching their next prize. Students can keep this chart in their home-school folder for daily use.

About the store

Experience

I have been teaching kindergarten for 12 years in a rural public school. Our district will be entering the 5th year of using the Literacy Collaborative Framework. This has involved hours and hours of professional development and many coaching sessions to help me and fellow teachers create a literacy rich environment for our students. This is based on the work of Fountas and Pinnell.

Teaching style

I have been told that I have a "thespian quality" to my teaching style. I use many chants, songs, and movements with my students to make new concepts easier to retain. I love making cross-curricular connections for my students and tend to use thematic units to help with this. I love using good literature (read-aloud) to springboard most of my day's activities.

My own education history

I earned my bachelors in early-childhood education (pre-k -3) from Youngstown State University along with a reading endorsement. I later earned my masters degree from the University of Akron with an endorsement in instructional technology.

Additional biographical information

I am also a mom of two young girls and love watching them learn and grow! :)
