I taught high school art for 30 years. I loved my job & look forward to each new adventure.
My degree is in graphic communication. As the art teacher I was asked to do many different things for teachers & administration. A good friend suggested that I try to sell some of my handouts and posters.
After looking through my stuff I realized I have a lot to offer up. Here goes...This is really fun!

Collage drawing
This is a very easy to understand drawing assignment. First students create a collage. Next they pick at least three items from the collage. Using the three items students set up three thumbnail compositions. Students pick the strongest composition & draw using value.

Here are 5 handouts each containing 10 artists & their works. This is a fun, colorful way to meet 50 artists. I also included answer keys. This is a simple way to cover many artists through history. I give a brief description of the artist and style. Students follow along and fill in the numbers. This can be used for researching or a painting project.

Compass Design
This project works as an easy filler project for those who finish early. Or it can be used as an actual assignment since it involves so much. • using a compass • elements of design (value, line, space, shape, texture & color) • using watercolors There is very little instruction with very good results! I included the four steps to hang on your bulletin board. Have fun!

Art Credit Lines & Art Criticism
This handout can be used for any work of art. The American Gothic is a perfect painting to begin with. Students will learn the six facts in a credit line and also look at art and try to understand it by using the four steps of art criticism.

This is a fun way to teach a little art history. There is a handout to use as an overview of art history with a key. There is a supplemental poster for your classroom. There is also a handout which explains the project. This is a great way to teach full color painting while throwing in some art history.

This is an awesome sculpture project. It takes time because there are so many steps. I use Claes Oldenburg's work to introduce some art history. First they research & draw thumbnails. The handout gives step by step instructions with many awesome examples. This is a fun project. I have always had outstanding results.
