This is a 4 to 5 weeks painting unit. First the students rule & paint 3 value scales. Next they make a cool value name design out of the scales. Finally they paint a composition of their choice using a monochromatic color scheme. I love all three projects.

The process for the High Fives: 1. Notice a student displaying the positive character trait. 2. Fill out the High Five sheet. 3. Give the High Five sheet to office. 4. The office will call the student down and will track everything. 5. Drawings for prizes will be done monthly. Pre-K-6th grade classes will compete for the most High Fives. The winning class will have a class celebration of a pizza or ice cream party. 7th-12th grade students will earn High Fives and have their name ente

This is a fun way to teach a little art history. There is a handout to use as an overview of art history with a key. There is a supplemental poster for your classroom. There is also a handout which explains the project. This is a great way to teach full color painting while throwing in some art history.
