This is a pre engineering project about simple machines which make a complex machine. This shows you how to build each type of the simple machines. A lot of photos to let you see how to make them. It has a Rubric also. This takes about 2 weeks of class time and teaches terms like transfer of energy, gravitational energy, direction, force, mass, etc.. There is prep for this lesson because of the inexpensive material that will need to be gathered. I have taught this for 7 years in my classes
This an activity that allows the student to review the definitions of the three types of levers. Once they see the illustration, they are prompted to draw levers (real life examples) along with labeling the Effort, Load and Fulcrum on each drawing. This will be used as a review to ensure the students can move onto the next level which is identifation of each type without prompts. Also the next step would be to calculate force. These are to be completed, cut out and put into thier Science Not
The shapes of each machine is pictured and described to help students identify each machine. It can be used as a review and/ or a quiz for a quick reflection.
