Implement this close reading bookmark in a mini lesson with students who need additional support in responding to the text they're reading. It has a list of sentence starters that help kick start those students who just don't know what to write.
This is a self-reflection form I had my middle school students fill out prior to holding parent-teacher conferences. I have compiled a list of 150 4th grade rated novels to teach the ELA Common Core State Standards. The novels on this list are categorized by CCSS strand and grade level recommendations. This file is in PDF format. The list includes title, author, CCSS, Grade Level suggestions, Lexile Level(when available), and F&P Level(when available). The grade level ratings go as low as K and as high as 9.
This is intended to use with your already existing classroom management system. Choose which step of your own system you'd like to assign this behavior reflection. The writing assignment can be used as an in class consequence or as a homework assignment. The more immediate the better. Conference briefly with the student after he/she has completed the reflection. Date and initial the bottom and keep in your behavior records for future reference.
