Permutations and Combinations Notes and Examples

Created by
The Engineer
This worksheet includes notes and example problems related to permutations and combinations. Permutations and combinations are very similar, so with the help of some pictures, examples, formulas, and example problems, students should know the difference once they are done with this sheet. The worksheet includes a playing card activity, one of my favorite items to use in a statistics classroom.

The characteristics included are: domain, range, x and y intercepts, increasing and decreasing intervals, end behavior, and horizontal and vertical asymptotes. I like to get my students out of the

This is a "fun fact" worksheet that can serve as practice for your students using the factoring technique known as Difference of Two Squares. This "fun fact" worksheet is in the same mold as the common riddle worksheets you have most likely seen. However, this worksheet reveals a fun and interesting fun fact at the end. My students love these because they can check their own work. They also like them better than the common riddle worksheets because they are just a little different. They love

Even though I am a high school math teacher, I have several different versions of this game. This is one I use at the very beginning of a course as a quick activity or when I need to fill a few minutes with something light and fun. This would be an ideal activity for practicing basic math facts in elementary up into middle school. To play, each student gets a card or two depending on the size of the class. The student with #1 reads his card and the student who has the answer to the question

This is a four operation Around the World Powerpoint with negations. There are a few negatives and a few double digit numbers. However, I use this as a quick activity at the end of class or when the kids need a small break. I ask the kids to stand when they "duel." The winner moves to the next student. I keep going until the slide run out. The winner is the person who has moved the farthest from their original starting point. This would make a great practice activity for upper elementary

This factoring review manipulative serves as a good review of Greatest Common Factor (GCF), Difference of Two Squares, Sum of Two Cubes, Difference of Two Cubes, and Trial and Error. Students have answers in front of them, but the distractors make it difficult for them to quickly choose unless they absolutely know the answer. Regardless of their age, kids love to cut things out and manipulate them. This makes it fun to do factoring. Students could easily work independently or in groups to co
