This set is in color, with fall leaves border. Please let me know if you need me to make it black & white for you. I model whole class and then use this in a center: Small group divides cards (model this). The child who has "I have z, who has a" goes first. Game continues until all cards are displayed in order.

Common Core Standard RL.K.2: With prompting & support, retell familiar stories, including key details. Students identify and draw the main character, setting, and main events of a story. Can be modeled whole class and then used in a literacy center with a familiar text.

I started using these I CAN statement strips as a way to keep track of which students were achieving targeted skills. They proved to be a great source of motivation and celebration as well! Since my students have difficulty seeing where the spaces are between lines, this paper highlights the spaces with asterisks and color. There is an illustration box on top of the page as well as a reference alphabet.
