About the store
Brian and Melanie Fulton met at Virginia Tech, where they each earned doctoral degrees in mathematics. They have taught mathematics at the university level, and they have written and edited mathematics curricula for a variety of levels, from middle school through postgraduate. They live on a small farm in Missouri, where they raise dairy goats, chickens, ducks, cats, miniature donkeys, and any fruit and nut trees they can keep the goats from decimating. They homeschool and are soon expecting their fourth student.

Logic Grids for Kids: Level 1
This 59 page book is organized into three pieces: Puzzles, Tutorials, and Answers. We suggest that you print off the puzzle (pages 6-35). If your student has been exposed to logic grid puzzles before, then they might be able to jump right into the puzzles, though the tutorials are still highly recommended. But if you’re dealing with a first-time puzzle solver, we think the tutorials are essential. As the teacher, make sure your student thoroughly understands the information in the tutorials.

This is a sample puzzle from the book “Grids for Kids: Level 1”. “Grids for Kids” is a series of e-books which encourages children to think logically by solving logic grid puzzles. Each book in the series contains 30 puzzles arranged according to five types, with six puzzles in each type. The puzzle types increase in difficulty throughout each book, and each successive book in the series adds another level of complexity.

Logic Grids for Kids: Level 5
With Level 5, we start ratcheting up the difficulty. The size of the puzzles is the same as in Level 4, but the logical connections that need to be made are a little more intricate. Some of the clues also contain a more complex structure. Many of the puzzles use a variation of “if … then” statements, prevalent in computer programming and mathematical logic.

What's new in Level 4?
In Level 2, the concept of “ordering” was introduced as a means of adding complexity to the clues and puzzles. In Level 3, however, this “ordering” concept was avoided since the purpose was to acclimate the learner to the larger size of the Level 3 puzzles. Now, in Level 4, we bring back the “ordering” concept, but we do so in the context of the larger puzzle size introduced in Level 3.

The Level 2 Supplement is simply a collection of 30 additional puzzles written to go along with the Level 2 Book in this series. The puzzles are organized into five types, with six puzzles in each type. Each puzzle within a given type requires the same logical steps in order to solve the puzzle. The puzzle types are organized according to increasing difficulty levels. The actual Level 2 Book (sold separately) contains tutorials which walk the children through selected puzzles for each type.
