The Math Project Studio

My favorite type of assessments are projects. After working hard on a project, it is important to have students think about how they performed in the chapter and project. This Group Project Reflection page is perfect for allowing students to reflect on their work and give fair feedback about their performance and their group's performance. I used this seven question handout with middle school students, but it could be used with 5th grade and above.

An advisory or homeroom clipboard is one of my favorite classroom tools. I print this page out, updated with my student roster, then put it in a page protector sleeve and clip it to my clipboard. I use the clipboard for morning attendance and afternoon dismissal. The students loved having this as a classroom job. I used this outline with 3rd - 5th graders. Most of the materials I had personally, were already in my room, or found thrifting or in a swap shop. This course could be used with any grades from k-8 with a little adaptation. I had a mixed group of students that didn’t know each other, so I liked to warm ups and getting to know you activities.

This form is perfect for teaching students to advocate for their needs. I like to print this onto colorful paper, cut them into fourths, and keep them in a page protector hanging in my classroom. The challenges could be made easier or harder depending on your audience, you know your kids! When I taught this class, I had a 40 minute class once a week for 10 weeks. We started the class off with a simple greeting, I introduced the story, then talked about the building challenge, and then the kids could build until we did our clean up.
