This is an awesome investigation for students to test a hypothesis, and learn about the nature of science - i.e., how science works in practice. In this lesson, the teacher poses the question, "Why don't we have paper spoons?" through setting a scenario. The teacher also provide students with two hypotheses, and students pick one and plan a procedure themselves to either support or refute the hypothesis they have chosen. Teaching style

Scientific discoveries were made through investigations. I was in scientific research before teaching, and I cannot think of teaching science in any other way. I believe that teaching should focus not just on engaging students in the classroom, but also in developing their conceptual understanding.
