This is a Power Point Explanation of what a Blackout Poem is. I have provided examples, and instructions on how to complete. This is a great activity to introduce poetry to your students.

The teacher will give the students a movie review for a popular movie with the action verbs blanked out. Students will fill-in the blanks with their own action verbs. Students will then write their own review for their favorite movie with an emphasis on the action verbs used.

The purpose of this activity is for students to read the poem "The Witch" and analyze the poem, and also recreate the poem in their own unique way.

This is a Power Point Presenation that introduces Word Play to students. I use this for the comedy section of our Spring Board Curriculum. The presenation includes links to Youtube videos, and discusses: one-liners, and puns.
