About the store
Welcome to The Projected Classroom! I’m Joshua W. Crawford, and I am so glad you've found your way here. With over 13 years of classroom experience spanning the United States and the United Kingdom, my passion is making math and computer science come alive for students. I have had the unique privilege of teaching US Secondary mathematics and computer science, as well as KS3 maths and KS3, KS4, and KS5 Computer Science here in the UK. As a Google for Education Innovator, I am deeply committed to leveraging technology to enhance learning. I specialize in project-based learning (PBL), creating environments where students use math and coding to build, investigate, and explain something real. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by the idea of PBL or worried about the prep time, my goal is to make it incredibly comfortable and realistic for you to implement. I design complete teaching packages meant to move your classroom beyond worksheets without sacrificing structure, standards, or your own sanity.

Experience

I design complete teaching packages meant to move your classroom beyond worksheets without sacrificing structure, standards, or your own sanity.

Teaching style

I truly believe students learn most deeply when they are given the freedom to create something meaningful. My resources sit at the intersection of mathematics, creativity, technology, and real-world problem-solving. Whether your students are designing a future-friendly tiny house in SketchUp , planning a campaign trail using coordinates, or animating geometric transformations in Scratch , these tasks are designed with a low-floor/high-ceiling structure. Because these projects require students to build, design, and present tangible finished products, they are naturally AI-resilient. You get to assess their actual understanding, knowing the work requires authentic, human problem-solving that a simple AI prompt cannot replicate. I want to help you raise engagement by giving students a genuine reason to use the math they are learning. At the same time, I provide the heavy scaffolding and teacher guidance you need to run richer lessons and embrace project-based learning without the chaos.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Earning my status as a Google for Education Innovator has been a major highlight of my career, allowing me to connect with educators globally to push the boundaries of digital problem-solving. Over the years, I've also earned multiple curriculum development grants, including a collaborative award with Texas A&M to integrate engineering and IoT into math lessons. Serving as Geometry Team Lead and Acting Math Coordinator gave me wonderful opportunities to support my fellow teachers in bringing these concepts to life. I’ve also loved leading campus initiatives like the academic decathlon, Chess Club, Coding Club, and Rubik’s Cube Club, helping students find their creative niche outside the traditional classroom.

My own education history

I hold a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in STEM Education from Texas A&M University. I am a fully certified 8–12 Mathematics & Computer Science Educator (TEA) in the US and hold QTS certification in the UK. To continually grow my practice, I’ve also earned additional credentials from MITx in Sustainable Building Design, UT Austin in Computer Science Education, and Google in Data Analytics & Project Management.

Additional biographical information

Outside of teaching, I am a builder and a maker at heart. Originally from Texas, I recently moved my family across the Atlantic to Hampshire, UK, where my wife Jessica and I both teach. I actually used my lifelong passion for architecture to design and build our own custom home from the ground up back in the US! When I'm not tinkering with 3D designs in Revit or SketchUp, you can usually find me playing the banjo, drums, ukulele, or mandolin for my school's staff band. I cherish the time I spend with Jessica and our two children who constantly remind me why building a better, more engaging future through education is so incredibly important.
