Third Grade on the Move

My students really struggled with two-step word problems. I came up with this 15-page resource to guide them through the steps of breaking down the problem into manageable pieces. The students begin by filling out, "What the answer looks like" using their words. For example, they would write, "Ducks in the pond + new ducks - scared ducks = total ducks left in the pond." This game helps students master 3.MD.B.4 without even realizing they're learning. The game board consists of a box with 21 lines. The students play with a partner and each partner uses a different colored pen or pencil. The students label each tick mark beginning with 0 and moving up in increments of 1/4.
