Third Grade Thinkers

This is a great reading log to use for grades 2-5. It holds the students accountable for what they read each night and has them reflect each day on what they read. I have my students pick which square they want to do each day and they do the last page when they have finished the book. This is a card game that is designed to give the students practice in putting two or more numbers together to make the total of ten. This is important with mental computation, one of the strategies in adding numbers together is to round to the nearest ten and add on from there. If students can do this quickly and confidently the their adding becomes much faster and they develop the confidence to trust their knowledge of 'equals ten' facts.
