I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak Novel Study
A novel study done with a mixture of charts and essay-style questions to engage students in different ways. Recently used for a grade 10 level two course, I feel like it would also be a great fit for grade 9 or 11.

Experience
I have been teaching for 8 years in the middle/junior high school level. I have primarily taught English Language Arts but I have also taught social studies.
Teaching style
I like students to be able to push themselves, create challenges and feel good about the work they are doing. Although I do use themed units for novel studies, I like to do a poetry and short story unit that is structured and has students completing similar assignments. I like to give students choice so that they will own their own learning and try to exceed their expectations.
My own education history
I have a degree in English with a minor in business and Asian Studies as well as a teaching degree.
