About the store
I have taught special education (all subjects) in 7th and 8th grade for nearly 20 years. My students are often mainstreamed out for their elective classes that include Computers, Health, Orchestra, Art and Physical Education. The students attend Social Studies and Science classes with their peers. During these classes, I modify the work for all students to be successful. While in the resource classroom, we learn functional skills such as counting money, reading a menu, budgeting, cooking, etc. To compliment our functional learning, we take community education trips to the grocery store or to a restaurant to apply our skills learned in school. It is my thought that all students can learn when given the right opportunity and tools.

These sign language cards are a great way to reinforce ASL learning for all students. This can be an alternate way for students to communicate or learn new signs. The cards can be placed in a small photo album or can be hole-punched to hang in your classroom. The ASL sign is provided with the color splash and color word underneath. Black & White cards are provided for save your ink purposes. The students can trace the color words on the Primary Dots. I have included two different borders for

These clip-it Color words and signs accompany the ‘freebie’ cards in my store. The students are asked to clip the correct color word or sign. These cards provide independence for the students to complete on their own. Adding a small dot on the back of each card allows students to self-check their answers. Also, the students are not able to feel the answer while clipping the cards. You can add the dot before or after laminating each of the cards for durability. Answer key provided. I have include

Teaching style

I am a visual and hands-on learner. When constructing my plans and units, I look at the "whole picture" and when finished have a 40+ page interactive presentation. Most of the material is presented on a SMARTboard accompanied with reinforcement tools such as interactive learning games, Osmo, experiments and peer to peer interactions to develop social skills and problem solving techniques. I challenge my students with at-level content that is modified to their individual learning capabilities.
