Celebrate Pi Day by making Pi City. Students create a bar graph using the digits of pi. Students can cut it out to create a cityscape. This comes with a paper and digital version! Graphing Equations in Slope-Intercept Form!Students are given 12 lines. They graph each line and name the animal that the line passes through. They also write the coordinates for each animal. This helps students practice going up or down first when using slope, and over first when identifying coordinates.

Given a graph, students identify the slope and y-intercept, and write the equation of the line in slope-intercept form. Students use the slope and y-intercept for color in the picture. 12 graphs in all.

Students locate 27 points on a coordinate plane and write down the letter at that point to reveal a secret phrase. Here is another riddle, to review graphing points after you teach slope. Students are given 20 equations in point-slope form. They need to determine the point and slope. They draw lines using the point and slope, and write down the letter each line passes through to reveal a silly math phrase. Students will need to be very precise when plotting points, but can use a ruler to help draw straight lines. Students plot 41 points on a coordinate plane, and connect the dots as they work to reveal a secret phrase instead of a secret picture. This can be used to introduce graphing points, or to review once you teach slope, since many students forget if they need to go over or up first.
