This is two activities that allow students to show their understanding of "The Star Spangled Banner". The first is a comic strip where students can illustrate each phrase of the star spangled banner. Just simply decided what to draw can help students reach an understanding of each phrase. The second activity is an activity in which students can rewrite each phrase of the anthem to show understanding. It also includes the anthem itself to project onto a smartboard or projector.

This activity allows students to sort the powers given by the Articles of Confederation into two categories: Strengths and Weaknesses. When the finish with this activity, they will see that there were more weaknesses than strengths which led to the eventual need to change the Articles.

This set includes four heading cards: Extinct, Endangered, Threatened, and Thriving. It also includes 20 animal information cards. There are five animals that fit into each category. Each card has a picture and description of the animal. Students can read it and decide what category it should go in based on the description. This can be a four corners sort activity. This activity is designed for use with the book "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can you?". The included worksheet has each item from the book on it in order. Under the item is a line for the student to write the sound word that item makes in the book. This is a great activity for Read Across America Week or any unit on Onomatopoeias!

This is a test that covers the basic concepts in the Constitution. It covers Preamble, Articles, and Bill of Rights, It also covers the three branches of government, Constitution vocabulary, 1st amendment rights, and the ratification of the Constitution. An answer key is includes. It is 30 questions including the Preamble fill in the blank.

This activity is designed for students to cut out sixteen phrases that represent rotation or revolution of the earth. Students will sort the cards into the corresponding category. There are eight cards for each category.

This is a project that can accompany a lesson on technology and inventions. Students will use what they have learned about technology or inventions, their uses, and their ideas to create an invention that will help to better society in some way. The project gives specific instructions as well as a page for them to use to describe and draw out their invention. I let my students build a 3D model for extra credit if they would like.

This activity is designed for students to sort physical and behavioral adaptations into categories by cutting and pasting.

This Declaration of Independence is written in language that elementary and middle school age students can understand. It also includes questions to go along with a lesson on the Declaration.

In this activity, students will sort items into heat, light, or chemical energy categories. There are five items for each category. Some items may belong in more than one category, but I have my students choose the "best" place for each. This activity includes important events leading to the Revolutionary War that students will cut and paste onto a timeline.

This quiz covers the causes, the course, and the consequences of the French and Indian War. It also covers important people and places of the war.

Students will show their knowledge of the preamble to the Constitution by placing the puzzle in the correct order. Students can cut these out, scramble them, and do it on their own. Another option would be to laminate and cut them out for all classes to use in the future. My students like to make it a race! This sorting activity allows students of all ages to explore the concept of technology. In this sorting activity, students will cut and paste examples into columns. This allows them to think of technology as more than just electronics.
