This object lesson teaches the ACTS model for praying (Adoration – Confession – Thanksgiving – Supplication), but since kids won’t likely recognize these terms, this lesson uses more familiar language: I love you! – I’m sorry! – Thank you! – Please!

This game helps children to understand that not all good works have the same value in God’s eyes. Good things done with bad or selfish motives are not worth nearly as much as those done for the right reasons. The game teaches about Paul’s writing about the believers’ judgment (aka “the Bema Judgment”), where our works will be tested.

We need to have “saltiness” so that we help to make life better, heal those who are hurting and save those who are lost. This lesson uses a science experiment in which you can make an egg float by adding salt to water. The salt increases the density of the water, making the egg more buoyant.

This object lesson teaches that the safest place for us is in the center of God’s will. Individuals or groups will create a board (representing God’s will) with rope handles and then attempt to spin it in a circle with a cup of water on it. If they do it correctly, centrifugal force will keep the water in the cup. The metaphor is that when everything is “spinning” around us, the center of God’s will is the best place to keep us from being “upset.”

This object lesson teaches about how God’s plan for us can be difficult to see at times. Even so, we should do our best to follow the path He has set out for us. A volunteer will work on completing a dot-to-dot puzzle while you talk about the challenges of discerning God’s plan for our lives.
