This game helps children to understand that not all good works have the same value in God’s eyes. Good things done with bad or selfish motives are not worth nearly as much as those done for the right reasons. The game teaches about Paul’s writing about the believers’ judgment (aka “the Bema Judgment”), where our works will be tested.
This object lesson helps children and youth to see that the “impossible” is not always as impossible as it seems. Before the end of the lesson, they will get an opportunity to put a straw all the way through a potato! The lesson includes some “kitchen science” and a spiritual application.
This object lesson teaches that the safest place for us is in the center of God’s will. Individuals or groups will create a board (representing God’s will) with rope handles and then attempt to spin it in a circle with a cup of water on it. If they do it correctly, centrifugal force will keep the water in the cup. The metaphor is that when everything is “spinning” around us, the center of God’s will is the best place to keep us from being “upset.”
