I currently teach in a Title I school in rural North Carolina. I have students in grades kindergarten through fifth with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. Many of my students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or have other unique medical needs requiring the significant modification of materials. All of my students are instructed via the Extended Content Standards, or North Carolina's alternate assessment pathway. We are a Unique Learning Systems classroom!

This worksheet teaches students about the state icons of North Carolina. Students are expected to trace and words and then cut and glue the matching pictures. There are two worksheets that go over the North Carolina flower, tree, vegetable, berry, mammal, bird, dog, and insect.
This is a sort comparing then vs now. This is a great tool to assess students understanding of how things are different now compared to how they used to be. Students will compare transportation (horse and buggy vs car), lights (light bulb vs candle lantern), cooking (fire vs stove), writing (letters vs email), and washing clothes (by hand vs washing machine). This aligns with NCDPI Social Studies Standard 1.H.1. Understand how people and events have changed society over time.
