Planet Pockets

This resources allows students to compare planets based on size, composition, atmosphere, natural satellites, geological activity, orbital periods, and rotational periods. Students will have to sort the typed descriptions into the proper pocket. Students may conduct research and I would recommend that they write the names of the planets on the back of the cards. Scaffold notes that allow students to retain the information as they research each planet. Students will also be responsible for writin

Apparent Motion of Constellations Activity

Students will have to extrapolate the future position of four given constellations after a certain period of time. The activity has the explanation of how to calculate apparent motion. The pictures do not have to be precise, but this activity just helps students to better understand how constellations appear to move in the night sky. The apparent motion of objects occurs at a rate of 15 degrees per hour, which is the rate that earth rotates. One complete rotation is 360 degrees and there are 24

About the store

Experience

I have been teaching middle school science for approximately 16 years. I have three science certifications life science 8-12, science 4-8, and science 7-12.

Teaching style

Students have various ways of learning and I try to cater to the needs of all of my students. I try to provide my students with various visuals. To explain, visuals play a huge factor in many abstract concepts and students need to see what is perceived to be the unknown. Meeting the students halfway creates significant gains in their level of comprehension.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been a "Distinguished Teacher" since 2012 Successful "ACE" teacher for 4 years and State of Texas Exemplary Teacher.

My own education history

B.S. in Biology with Chemistry M.Ed (Administration and Supervision)
