Hi! Get your students ready for lab work with this super simple yet engaging unit. The lessons can be done in 2 weeks or 1 week for more advanced classes. Please check out the experiments -- while it's simple in appearance, these lessons always pack a punch and are a hit with middle schoolers.
Editable Digital Notebook for 6th/7th grade Earth Science This was made as an additional tool to support in classroom or virtual learning while keeping students engaged and teaching collaboration skills.
This is a full lesson plan + materials for the first day or first week of school. It is written by a former science teacher and lesson writer for a substitute so you know it is fully explained. You can print and go and any adult should be able to run the lesson. 45 - 50 minutes grades 6-8 Not subject specific, but has some parts that focus on science lab safety.
Candy Hearts Science! Similar to my candy corn science experiment, this lab, appropriate for elementary and early middle school, allows kids to play with candy hearts to test the solubility in various liquids. It's fun, relatively mess-contained, and a great way to celebrate a holiday in class.
This is the notebook that I have used with my students in 8th grade science. It is ready to be used as is and you can delete my notes, but I've left them in as bonus activity ideas. It is a hefty resource - 50+ pages!! It is all yours to edit and use as you like. I loved this for virtual learning, but I honestly think it would be even better once we're back in the classroom. A great way to have kids take notes and share findings with you and their peers.
This was a great project for the end of the year. It helped students understand inheritance and alleles while creating their own superheroes. My 8th graders loved it and I think it would be good for 6th-8th.
Play around the world or play family feud...play all the games, but use this great list of questions to make for a great review game before a test! These questions are great for grades 3-6, depending on your classroom. The topics covered are: plants, animals, energy, weather, matter, measurement, earth's movements, and forces. Please download and review!
Use this template from the Pages app to create quick and easy newsletters! Communicating with families is vital but often takes a big chunk of time that you do not have! I made this template and printed it out (with my own, versatile and personal photos) and always keep a printed copy handy. When in a rush, I can always fill it out by hand (personal touch!) and make copies before sending them off with my kiddos. I hope you enjoy this resource and that it makes your daily task list a little bit s
