About the store
I'm an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience most of it working in School Systems. I started creating Handwriting worksheets because I couldn't find what I wanted/needed for my students. I found I could teach my students to write letters but the legibility continued to be poor because the letters were all the same size with no spacing. My worksheets focus on size and spacing. Any font can be used with my worksheets. I call my system Block Handwriting and I've had some great results over the past few years. I've been giving them to teachers in my district and the feedback is always positive. I would love feedback so I can continue to improve my products.

Handwriting Practice Worksheets with Second Grade Sight Words Update!I've updated the letters and colors. It looks good printed in color or grayscale. Block Handwriting places an emphasis on letter size and spacing to improve legibility. If letters are all the same size and smashed together it's hard to read even if the individual letters are fine. These worksheets were designed to help students practice letter formation incorporating size and spacing. If a student starts in the correct place,

This set of worksheets was created to help students with handwriting and Sight Word practice. These worksheets have a 1/2” line height. This is the same height found in primary ruled composition books. So, it is slightly higher than wide-ruled notebook paper at 3/8” line height. It’s a good height for students who are challenged by wide ruled paper. A blank page has been included. Students should trace the words, then copy the words using the starting dots and then write the words. There are

This the first step to learn letter size and spacing. A student can make legible letters but if they are the same size and smashed together writing can be illegible. Any font can be used. I tell my students that short letters go in the pink block. Tall letters go in the blue and pink block with most of the letter in the pink block. Dive letters go in the pink block with a foot in the water but not the whole leg. Site word practice pages are also available using this paper.

This set of paper was created for students in Second Grade and up. The line height is small and blocks are smaller. The blocks help with letter size and spacing. Skip a block between words for spacing between words. Short letters go in the bottom block, tall letters go above and dive go under. The paper works printed in color or black/white.

Updated Block Handwriting Filler Notebook paper. This is an updated version specifically designed as a substitute for wide ruled notebook paper. Students write one letter ON a block and skip a block between spaces. Changing the paper to make the blocks more dominant and the lines to be the negative space. Print double sided, punch holes and put into a 3-ring binder. This helps with letter size and spacing. There is space below for letters that do under the line.

These worksheets are revised and updated. I've used my Block Handwriting Paper, Step 4 as the foundation for this set of worksheets. The emphasis is on handwriting and starting letters in the correct spot. If letters aren't started in the correct spot they won't be formed correctly. By starting the letter in the correct location within a block, students see how letters and words should look in relation to the space. There are 7 pages for students to trace, copy and write the words. The la

Here is my first Interactive Notebook. I decided to focus on lowercase letters with this notebook. Lowercase letters take are harder to learn but those are the letters we read and write the most. The notebook starts with matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Then on to basic strokes. It's important to get the strokes going from top to bottom, left to right and counter clockwise. The lowercase letters are sorted by the starting strokes and in alphabetical order within the group. The last a

Collecting Data for IEP objectives and RTI can be a real pain. I have created these forms over the last few years to standardize the collection of data. Once I started to collect data in a standardized format, my data and reporting improved. My data is now easier to defend. I use an Excel Spreadsheet to record the data and create percentages for progress reports. The spreadsheet is available as a separate free download (updated to Excel 2010). I have included instructions for all of the forms.

Each activity can be completed in under 30 minutes, usually about 15 minutes. Directions for each activity is in the discard area. Visual prompts have been added to assist with comprehension. No construction paper in needed. A hole punch bigger than the standard size is helpful for little fingers but not necessary. A heart hole punch is option

Block paper gives visual support for letter size and spacing. I updated this version with a portrait orientation and 3/4" space for writing. One letter per block and skip a block between words. This paper is better for First or Second grade students that need help with size and less help with letter formation. It can be printed in greyscale and it works fine.

A great resource for learning how to write uppercase letters. The book is organized by the starting stroke of the letters. Tall lines, circle stroke, and diagonal lines. Visual support of a starting dot and blocks to help with size and spacing. There aren't any written instructions on the pages, so you can use your favorite handwriting program or instructions. Print on both sides, landscape orientation and flip on short edge in your printer settings. You will need an extended reach stapler to s

Each book has 16 pages, printed on both sides of the paper using a total of 8 pieces of paper. You will need an extended reach stapler to staple the pages together. *Completely Revised and Updated* There are 3-4 words per page. The words are grouped according to similar starting dots plus additional word groups. The fonts and colors have been updated to use less ink and the letters are grey to make it easier to trace. The dots are transparent to make it easier to see where the letter starts. All of the starting dots have been provided because it's important in the early stages of handwriting to start a letter in the correct spot. If the letter is starts co

Do you have students who can't write legibly in their composition books? Are their letters too big for the space? Do they need room at the top for drawing? This is a problem that I encounter regularly. Composition books are great but the spaces can be to small for some students. I've seen all kinds of modifications but they take time. With this page, students can write and then glue into their book or glue then write. A bunch of pages can be prepared in advance. I use this regularly.

The focus of this product is on handwriting by using Pre-Primer and Primer Sight Words. It is important to start a letter in the correct location. A letter is more likely to be written correctly if it starts in the right spot. These worksheets are a fun way to improve letter formation. Each letter group has 3 worksheets plus an answer sheet. They were designed to have a similar appearance so differentiation is more subtle. The answer sheets can be used for tracing practice. These worksheets are

Start by printing a blank, put blank sticky notes on the squares, fill-out the schedule and print. Make to put it in the printers by-pass tray not the main tray, it will jam! I use the blank page multiple times when making out the beginning of the year schedule or whenever the schedule changes. Yo

The other page, students sort the letters by size (tall, short and dive). I laminate the pages and velcro the lowercase letters to the clothes pins. I often add a scooter board and spread out the lowercase letters. The students have to scoot around and bring the letters back to the uppercase sheets. They can also take one a time through an o

Additional biographical information

I started taking classes in Web Design about 5 years ago. The classes included graphic design and learning to use design software. The classes lead me to start creating worksheets and a unique approach to handwriting. I had been doing this with graph paper and highlighters for years before handwriting programs came into existence. There is more to handwriting than individual letter formation. The size and spacing of words and letters is just as important. Learning to write on worksheets is important. When the letters are huge and run down the side of the page it is difficult to read, I have strategies for writing on worksheets. My approach addresses those aspects but can be used with any font or letter formation program. My wish is to help students learn to write, so they can write and benefit from all the other wonderful things teachers do.
