Experience

I’m an Autism Specialist and SEND teacher with over 15 years’ experience working across early childhood, primary, alternative provision and specialist settings. I support autistic learners, gestalt language processors (GLPs), children with sensory processing differences, and pupils who benefit from visual, structured, low-demand learning. My resources are shaped by real classroom practice, family experience, and the strategies I use every day to help children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Teaching style

My teaching is neuro-affirming, visual, and predictable. I focus on reducing cognitive load, supporting regulation, and building communication using clear visuals, Colourful Semantics–style sentence building, simplified texts, and practical routines. I believe every child thrives when expectations are clear, language is accessible, and adults respond with curiosity, connection and flexibility.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have supported hundreds of families, teachers and SENCOs through tailored visual supports, autism training and early communication tools. My resources are used internationally in classrooms, home-education settings and speech & language sessions. A highlight of my work has been helping non-speaking children use symbol-supported stories and visuals to join in lessons for the first time — and watching their confidence grow.

My own education history

PGCE Postgraduate Diploma in SEND & Inclusionn - Autism NASENDCo Award Ongoing specialist training in: Autism Education Trust (AET), SCERTS, sensory integration approaches, visual communication systems, and early communication for autistic learners. I also deliver CPD for schools, tutoring organisations and parent groups.

Additional biographical information

I create resources that make learning calmer, clearer and more accessible for autistic and SEND learners — and easier for the adults supporting them. All illustrations and visuals are designed to be friendly, easy to understand and low-arousal, helping children feel safe and confident.
