Students will be researching a U.S. National Park of their choice as part of creating a survival guide for backcountry camping. They will use a link to select their U.S National Park. Next they will complete a series of research, and writing activities that will help them complete their planning & project. I've broken the project into six days of activities that can be modified to meet your needs. A rubric is included for grading as well as links for day one's planning process.
This is a novel study that I used with an advanced first-grade class, as a reading resource specialist. It could be used with students reading Princess Pulverizer at another grade level. It provides teachers with chapter-by-chapter vocabulary and definitions, journal questions, and three skill-building activities including a printout board game, a kindness quest, and a princess seeking a helpful dragon activity that builds thinking and creative skills.

I have 18 years teaching experience in K-8, with the much of my experience in Middle School, and 5th grade.
Teaching style
I love to work with students using inquiry based learning, and project based learning. I love working with students in readers and writer's workshop and STEM, as well as one to one laptop learning through Google Classroom.
