This project is useful when studying the periodic table of elements and/or properties of matter. Students love exploring the various online interactive tables and sharing the final poster products.
Included you will find a PDF and WORD copy of the project so that you can customize it to fit your needs. There is also a rubric included for assessment purposes.
If you are studying energy and Newton's laws this is a great hands on science activity. Every year before the holiday break I take my students to the local bowling alley and we conduct this investigation. My 8th grade students love this activity. We bowl the first game for "business" to complete our work, and then bowl the next game for fun. This investigation lends itself to great measurement practice, data analysis, student reflection, and hands on physics instruction.
Below you will find the
This activity is really fun to do with students. It provides an engineering and design challenge and a great way to introduce/reinforce simple machines. Students need to design and construct a car that is powered solely by a Mousetrap.
This is an open ended challenge will provide an opportunity for students to grapple and build up grit.
This was originally designed as a Hyperdoc but can also be used as a standalone worksheet. I've also include a Word version so you can taylor this challenge t
This foldable can be used to introduce and/or review the topic of Global Warming / Global Climate Change. It consists of guided notes and short answer questions that accompany two videos on the topic.
The third sheet contains the links to the videos and basic directions. Once folded, these notes fit nicely into a science notebook.
This learning menu is a great way to differentiate instruction in a science class where students are studying energy concepts. Allow students to learn important energy concepts creating products that are suited to their varied learning styles.
This is a short term project I use with my 8th grade science students at the beginning of the school year. This really helps to show the relevance of science education to their future.
This is the rubric I use with my 8th grade science students. It's standards based on a three point scale. The learning targets for this notebook are below:
-I can maintain an organized notebook.
-I can maintain a science notebook that shows evidence of learning.
