This activity can be used as part of a unit on Immigration. Students take on the role of an immigrant and reflect on what they would be to their new country if they had a limited amount of space. It's a good activity to promote multiple perspectives.

Every year before the holiday break I take my students to the local bowling alley and we conduct this investigation. My 8th grade students love this activity. We bowl the first game for "business" to complete our work, and then bowl the next game for fun.
