Science Quests are used to guide students through review cycles throughout the school each. Each science quest has a vocabulary review, questions related to the vocabulary review, and a current event/real world connection.
I generally assign these through Google Classroom as a hyperdoc. We review student work at the end of the work in small groups.
The focus of this Science Quest is Mass, Weight, Volume, and Density.
If you are studying energy and Newton's laws this is a great hands on science activity. Every year before the holiday break I take my students to the local bowling alley and we conduct this investigation. My 8th grade students love this activity. We bowl the first game for "business" to complete our work, and then bowl the next game for fun. This investigation lends itself to great measurement practice, data analysis, student reflection, and hands on physics instruction.
