If you are a teacher who does not have time to fit Social Studies into your curriculum, this can help you. It's something simple I've been doing in my class for years and it works like a charm. About the store

Experience

I have 23 years of teaching experience in Elementary Education. Additionally, I have been teaching a Self-Contained Gifted Class for the past 20 years in a National Blue Blue Ribbon School.

Teaching style

I teach my classroom through inspiration and motivation. My goal is to engage students in something that is important to them, and then the learning comes easy. The hook for me has always been American History. I use a year long role playing scenario where students become the United States and manage events throughout the year. And then all of my Math, Science and Reading lessons are woven into a historical theme.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Orange County Public Schools Social Studies Teacher of the Year 2007 & 2024 Avalon Elementary Teacher of the Year 2013 I've also been in many local magazines, newspapers, etc in the Central Florida area. Most of the smaller awards came from lessons, particularly from Sleepy Hollow lesson, and my work on Government lessons and the Civil War.

My own education history

Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Central Florida. Go Knights! Graduated with a Master's Degree in Curriculum Design from the University of New England.
