I taught Algebra and Geometry at a traditional high school until the school closed in 2015. Now I teach math standards K-9 to adults coming back to get a high school education. I love my job!
Scavenger hunt activities are such a hit in my class! In the PDF there are 12 pages, each with an order of operations question. The teacher should post these around the classroom. Students can pick any of the papers to start with. The bottom half will have a question. Students will complete the work on their paper, and arrive at an answer. The answers to questions are on the top half of each paper. Students will look around the room for the correct answer, and then go to that paper to complete t
Use this game in your class to have students practice their integer rules! You can put your students into 2 teams (or three if you have a larger class). Students take turns in front of the board and use a flyswatter to hit the correct answer (you can give them spatulas if you don't have flyswatters at home). A question appears at the top of the screen, and 4 answer choices will appear around the board. The first to hit the correct answer gets the point! There are 20 questions, as well as an exam
Have your students practice using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to answer story problems with this puzzle activity instead of a boring worksheet! Each puzzle piece has a story problem that requires adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. Starting with the piece that says "start here", students will answer the first question, and go on to the next piece that has their answer. There are 11 questions in this activity. Print an extra copy and don’t cut it up to use as an a
This is a great, engaging activity for students to practice their four operations. I recommend putting students into groups of 2-4 for this activity. Cut out a set of triangles for each group (I’ve laminated mine so I can use them again and again). On some sides of the triangles there are problems, and on other sides, answers. The task for each group is to match up all the problems on the triangles with the answer sides. There are some answers that won’t be used, that will appear on the outside.
