In this activity, students will make predictions about which U.S. state they believe is the most at risk for various natural disasters. They will then use devices and explore the FEMA national risk index map to discover which states are truly at risk for certain disasters. Students will then research and produce a mitigation plan for a state and disaster of their choice. I love using the FEMA map resource in class and kids tend to love exploring it.
