This student booklet covers the properties of air: - Air is a fluid, - Air exerts pressure, - Air takes up space, - Air has mass, - Air can be compressed, - Air reacts to temperature. For each property, an experiment is required. I found several experiments online through a google search. The teacher can demonstrate the experiments for each property, or students can engage in the experiments on their own. Enjoy!

Discussing current events in our communities offers rich learning experiences. In my grade 5/6 classroom, students are each assigned a week to present on a current event topic of their choice. A literature circle is a small group instructional approach to support reading development. During a book study, students are assigned one job at the end of each chapter: interrogator, stellar summarizer, word wizard, illustrator, or connection maker. Literature circles run themselves when time is taken to set them up. This document outlines the 5 roles students will take on during their book study. Available in PDF format.
