Range, Interquartile Range, Box and Whisker Plots, Histograms and Dot Plots
This booklet commences with some simple tasks to find the range of different groups of scores. It then displays the process to determine the interquartile range for an even or odd number of scores. This then leads to how to draw box and whisker plots. Students are asked to draw their own graphs, or interpret given box and whisker plots. The final task in this booklet is to tie box and whisker plots, and tables of data with other graphs, in this case dot plots and histograms.

The Mean - Calculating Averages
This booklet covers two basic exercises. The first one is a puzzle which asks students to calculate the mean based on groups of numbers. The second one is a series of questions which extend the idea of the mean further by asking for missing scores, given a mean, or to determine the weighted mean for 2 groups of scores.

Experience

Teaching style
I like to create a positive environment in the classroom where Maths is challenging and rewarding. Not everyone enjoys this subject. So I do attempt to balance tasks with puzzles and competitions. I hope this is reflected in some of my worksheets, as students strive to complete questions to solve a riddle, or compete a challenge.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I am Level Two Senior Classroom Teacher. I also like to present workshops at conferences. Many of these conferences have been through the Mathematics Association of Western Australia. Take Sum Risks is a game created by You do the Maths which we love to demonstrate to students and teachers.
My own education history
I studied at the University of WA, completing a Bachelor of Science (Maths Major) and then a Diploma in Education.
Additional biographical information
I enjoy the outdoors and I am also involved in sport. I played cricket for a number of years and have been involved in umpiring Australian Football since 1985. I have been a coach in both of these disciplines since 1998.
