Students research scientists and create a wanted poster with all the requirements. Students can learn about many scientists by doing one poster and then having a gallery walk to gather info about other scientists. I have included some basic information about scientists that are commonly researched for MS science. I also include websites to help the research process. Students use the ABC's to build a book or ppt that shows a science concept or any concept learned through out the year and explains it, gives an activity that can be hands on, and provides a picture and resource as needed. It is a great review project at the end of the year to reflect and identify what students grasped for the year. This project can be modified for all learners. This is a game that can be played in the classroom using baseball rules. Using 2 teams, each person "at bat" will get a question, they will need to answer, if they answer correctly without hesitation they get a triple hit, if you use a timer you can do strike 1, 2, 3 for each 5 second increments. All can be modified to how you choose. As batters answer questions progressing each batter around the bases, give points as each batter comes back to home plate. Have a prize for the winning team. This is basic matter and chemistry information. Each part is a couple days to a week long worth of activities. Students can use this as a flipped classroom lesson. These can be adapted from 4th-9th grade I would say since science depending on state will hit many of these terms for state testing. Adapt to fit your kiddos.
