About the store
All students can learn math. As educators it is our job to find what helps each individual student understand. That means presenting different ways to solve a problem. Zero in on Math provides lesson slides, guided notes, in class practice, differentiated homework, discoveries and activities. My name is Michelle and I have taught grades 6-12 math throughout my 20+ years as an educator, which includes all levels of PreAlgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, PreCalculus and Discrete Mathematics. I am a boy Mom to two sons and a dog Gizmo. I love coffee, the beach, boxing and cycling. When I am not doing one of those things, you will find me walking Gizmo, working in my yard or decorating my house.

Zero in on Divisibility Rules

I list the divisibility rules in a fun table and leave room for the students to fill in an example. On the second page I show them how the rule for the number 7 works, although I tell them we usually just divide by seven because the rules is so complicated. Then there is a page of practice problems.

I went to the dollar store about bought several 20-piece jigsaw puzzles. The students really enjoy the challenge of putting them together. We use the data of time it takes and number of pieces put together to create a scatterplot that we can then analyze and depending on the grade, create a line of best fit.

Teaching style

If you walk into my classroom you will see my students working together. I encourage them to ask questions and help each other to learn. Students all learn with varying styles and at different paces so I strive to offer alternative ways to learn and practice. The activities and lessons are differentiated to accommodate many learning styles and levels of understanding.

My own education history

I have a Master's in Teaching Mathematics and also completed a graduate program for Administration.
