Give your students meaningful hands-on math activities with chain links to practice important math skills. This set includes activities to practice non-standard measurement, color patterns, ordinal numbers and more!

This resource includes 8 hands-on activities to use with colored chain links, either in morning tubs as morning work or for math centers or early finishers!

The goal for my morning tubs is to create activities that use common classroom manipulatives and items. They are low-prep; just print the student pages or instructions, and you are ready to go.

This set contains 8 different activities for using plastic math links. Each center has detailed teacher instructions.

This resource contains 8 activities to be used with RED, BLUE, YELLOW, GREEN, links.

  • Ordinal Links: Students choose 1 of 12 Ordinal Links cards and place the links on an ordinal strip according to the ordinal numbers. There are ordinal strips with numbers and without.

  • Extend my Pattern: Students choose from 12 cards and place the links in the correct orientation to extend the pattern.

  • Pattern Puzzlers: Students choose from 12 different puzzlers strips and will use links to create the patterns according to the given pattern rule.

  • Keep it Going! : Students link the links to continue the pattern shown.

  • Link to Add: Students solve an addition problem by linking a known number of links to the card and then adding links on in another color to get the sum.

  • How Long Is It?: Students will choose 1 of 12 different picture cards and measure by placing the links on the line on the picture to measure the length. Laminate these picture cards for repeated use.

  • Find and Measure: Students take a card, find the object in the classroom, measure it with links, and record the number on the laminated card.

  • Graphing with Links: There are two options for graphing mats - Grab and Graph (you add a paper bag with links) or Spin and Graph (add a paperclip for the spinner). Students complete the tally cart and graph the results.
