If you teach fourth grade math, this is EVERYTHING you need to teach measurement and data, and cover the Common Core standards! This set was designed so you would have a complete unit. The presentation is so easy to follow that a substitute could even teach new content if you were unexpectedly absent!

Please note, the very last measurement standards on measuring angles and using a protractor will be included in the geometry unit. It just fit with those a lot better and kept the size of this unit more normal!

Also, this is a great way to help enrich your high-flying third graders, or help reinforce concepts for fifth graders. The presentation could be self-guided when needed!

Please note this product is also included in my Common Core Math: 4th Grade Complete Set (Entire Year) Bundle

There are six main topics and eight reviews/extra topics for this Measurement and Data unit!

♦Review: Customary Length & Weight Units

♦Review: Customary Capacity Units

♦Review: Metric Length Units

♦Review: Metric Mass & Capacity Units

♦Review: Time

♦Conversions: Customary Units

♦Conversions: Metric and Units of Time

♦Review: Elapsed Time

♦Operations with Units (Whole Units)

♦ Operations with Mixed and Fractional Units

♦ Extra Practice: World Problems with Operations of Units

♦ Perimeter and Area

♦ Line Plots

♦ Extra: Hands-On Measurement Sheets (Length)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Included:

♦ A full in-depth presentation on all topics in the measurement and data unit (except for measurement of angles, that's in geometry). The presentation reviews all of the units, and covers conversions, elapsed time, operations with whole/mixed/fractional units, perimeter and area, and line plots. Review questions for each segment/mini-unit are included with answers for class discussions.

♦3 Assessments PER main topic.(see above, anything not a review/extra) Each topic has a regular practice assessment, an "Application" assessment (word problems, using tables), and a "Test Prep" with multiple choice (all w/ keys!)

♦Assessment for each of the "review" topics

♦A complete unit study guide (w/ key) in the "style" of Common Core assessment

♦A complete unit test (w/key) in the "style" of Common Core assessment

♦Everything you need for a math interactive notebook including a notes/practice page and a foldable/glue-in for each topic (review and main topics) . I have included pictures so you can see how I set up my notebook!

♦Vocabulary cards for your room covering: metric, customary, length, mass, weight, capacity, temperature, time, money, area, perimeter, line plot (blanks included!)

♦ Posters with comparisions of units to everyday items for: customary length, customary weight, customary capacity, and metric length, metric mass, and metric capacity.

♦Three total games that could be used as class/group activities or centers: "Measurement Tool Game/Sort", "Mountain Sport Madness Board Game" (Operations with units (mixed, fractional, whole), and "Elapsed Time I Have, Who Has."

♦ Measurement centers with cards/prompts for each station and a list of supplies needed (most found around the class/school!)

♦ A measurement unit sort that is a whole-class activity where students come up and sort units into length, weight/mass, capacity, and temperature. Then, they sort them into Customary/Standard and Metric! There is a chart for students to follow along, and when you are finished, it makes a GREAT display for the classroom!

♦ Elapsed Time Number Lines for any group/class activities!

♦Paper die and dice cards if you don't have dice for your room to go with the game!

♦Very detailed notes for you from me on how to use the set! This includes a "Unit Guide" correlating all of the mini-unit/topics in a chart for ease of use and planning!

***Please note that while these are in color, they print beautifully in black and white! I know many of us do not have color printers at school, so I wanted to make sure these worked both ways!

***These files are all in PDF format, to show the presentation full screen, go to "view", then "Full Screen Mode" and it will view just like a PowerPoint Presentation!

Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
