32-slide PPT that goes into the Endocrine System and its role in the human body. Guided notes are included in the zip file to help students keep track of all of the information. Words are in highlighted in red that are meant to be filled in. If you do not want to use it as guided notes, all you need to do is change the red words back to black!
Students learn the relationship between hormones and glands as well as the steps of hormone secretion.
Vocabulary includes: hormones, glands, secretion, metabolism, gonads, endorphins, adrenaline, insulin, and glucagon. Each of the following major glands has specific slides devoted to its role in the Endocrine System:
1. Hypothalamus
2. Pituitary Gland (Anterior and Posterior Lobes)
3. Thyroid
4. Parathyroid Glands
5. Adrenal Glands (Adrenal Cortex and Adrenal Medulla)
6. Pineal Gland
7. Reproductive Glands (Testes and Ovaries)
8. Pancreas
Students learn about adrenaline when talking about the adrenal glands. After this there is an embedded clip of a daredevil climbing up skyscrapers and doing backflips on individual beams with no sides. Kids loved it and it kept them engaged for the rest of the lesson!
This PPT is straight forward and to the point and will help you teach your students this topic at ease. The last five slides are check for understanding questions.
