Create Your Own Superhero - Descriptive Writing (2 paragraphs)
The Great Invention Convention - Persuasive Writing (2 paragraphs)
Personal Narrative - Narrative Writing (3 paragraphs)
Compare and Contrast - Expository Writing (4 paragraphs)
Biographic Sketch - Narrative Writing (5 paragraphs)
*New unit!! Teach Me How! – Expository Writing (5 paragraphs)
- A Rubric for every writing unit based on The Six Traits of Writing
- Classroom clip chart
Each unit goes through the five stages of writing and walks students through the process from start to finish!
Included in each stage is:
- Prewriting –Writing model, graphic organizers, explanation and practice questions based on the type of writing
- Drafting – Introduction to a writing skill, practice questions based on the writing skill, sentence outline sheets to help begin drafting
- Revising – Self review sheet, peer review sheet
- Editing – Introduction to a grammar skill, practice questions based on the grammar skill, yellow editing paper where students copy over their work and make changes to their writing
- Publishing – Publishing paper specific to each assignment where students write over their final drafts and share
